About Melanie - Pet photographer near Saratoga, NY
Growing up there was no doubt that Melanie would have a career working with animals. As a young child she went from wanting to be a Zookeeper taking care of elephants and tigers, to being a Veterinarian, to being a Marine Biologist. Her love of animals led her down the career path of a Veterinary Technician. For the last 20 years, Melanie has dedicated her life to helping animals in need.
Photography was always a lifelong hobby for Melanie. With the onset of Covid and the years that followed, Melanie started using her skills to preserve the human-animal bond in a new way. During the Covid pandemic things drastically changed in the field of veterinary medicine. Clinics were no longer able to provide the care that their patients so desperately needed. Emergency clinics were shutting down due to lack of staff and all professionals related to the field were suffering compassion fatigue on a whole new level. This was when photography became more than a hobby, it became a passion. Melanie found that through her images she was able to help humans and animals alike. Adept at capturing the soul of her subjects, Melanie is able to create images that will remind you of your beloved companion for years to come. Melanie’s goal is to provide a piece of art that will hang on your wall and everyday when you walk by, you smile! You smile at the memories made with your best friend, you smile at the time you are sharing and have shared, you smile at your fur baby.
When not in the studio or the veterinary clinic, you can find Melanie enjoying the outdoors kayaking, hiking, skiing or snowshoeing. She is a talented musician and enjoys playing her saxophone in various groups throughout the community and she is never too far from her own fur babies.
